The time of nurturing a new soul until it is ready to begin its journey on earth is sacred, and baby's best beginning is created through the mindfulness of the mother.  The ways in which she takes care of her body, mind and spirit and the attitudes that she brings to birth and motherhood set the foundation for the future evolution of the person growing inside of her.  yogaBIRTH helps moms-to-be establish this kind of conscious, loving foundation for her child.

yogaBIRTH sessions are designed to educate parents-to-be on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of giving birth naturally and empower them to work with the energy of birth using non-invasive comfort measures, including yoga postures, breath work, deep relaxation and tension release techniques, massage, acupressure, and more.

Couples may participate in the yogaBIRTH workshop at any stage of pregnancy.  However, the ideal time is toward the end of the second trimester/beginning of third, as your bodymind is ready to focus on the upcoming birth.

Each of the six yogaBIRTH sessions entails two components:

PRACTICE
The first hour includes a comprehensive but accessible yoga practice that includes yoga postures specifically relevant to supporting pregnancy and preparing for birth (such as those that address common pregnancy discomforts, develop strength and stamina, hip openers, heart openers and partner poses) deep breathing and meditation techniques, deep relaxation, intention setting/mantra/affirmations and mudras.

EDUCATION/DISCUSSION

The second hour is spent discussing a variety of topics related to birth from a yogic perspective, including:

• The modern culture of childbirth
• The benefits of yoga during pregnancy
• A woman's inherent power to give birth
• The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of giving birth without intervention
• Preparing the body, mind and spirit for labor
